To receive federal, state, or institutional financial aid funds administered by Great Bay Community College, a student must:
- Be admitted to a degree-granting or eligible certificate-granting program (16 credit hours or more) at Great Bay Community College
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Policy for Financial Aid standards, as defined by the Financial Aid Office (see Financial Aid Policies)
- Not be in default on a student loan
- Not owe a refund on any federal (Title IV) financial aid
For Pell Grants and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants:
- No prior baccalaureate, graduate, or professional degree
- Not be receiving Pell grants from another institution for the same enrollment period
For Direct Loans, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Unique Scholarship, and Federal Work-Study employment:
- Must be enrolled for a minimum of six eligible credits
Students who accept loans must complete Entrance Counseling and sign a Loan Agreement (MPN) at StudentAid.gov
All Students who complete and file a valid FAFSA are eligible for federal Direct Student loans, regardless of financial need. For grant programs, Perkins Loans, Federal Work Study, and for subsidized Direct Loans, a student must have financial need, as determined by the federal need analysis calculation, based on the information provided on the FAFSA.
To receive aid in future semesters, a student must meet qualitative and quantitative standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid (SAPFA). These standards are described on our Financial Aid Policies page, and in the college’s Financial Aid Handbook.
